JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a full-time role for a Legal Operations Specialist. The Legal Operations Specialist will ensure legal compliance and manage contracts, risks, and policies for the organization. The role involves coordinating legal matters, reporting, and providing guidance to the team on compliance and best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Legal Compliance:
  • Ensure all operational activities comply with legal regulations and industry standards.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations that impact the organization’s operations.

2. Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors, clients, and partners.
  • Ensure all contractual terms align with organizational objectives and legal requirements.

3. Risk Management:

  • Identify potential legal risks and create strategies to mitigate them.
  • Assist in developing and implementing risk management policies and procedures.

4. Policy Development:

  • Collaborate with legal counsel and operational teams to develop and update organizational policies.
  • Ensure all policies comply with legal standards and reflect industry best practices.

5. Due Diligence:

  • Conduct due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other business transactions.
  • Analyze legal documents, identify risks, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.

6. Compliance Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all reporting processes.

7. Dispute Resolution:

  • Assist in managing disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel when necessary and maintain documentation related to legal proceedings.

8. Training and Education:

  • Provide training to employees on legal compliance, contractual obligations, and operational procedures.
  • Promote awareness of legal issues and foster a culture of compliance.

9. Documentation Management:

  • Maintain organized, up-to-date legal documentation, including contracts, agreements, and corporate records.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of legal regulations and industry standards relevant to the organization’s operations - import, customs, defense tech, international law, NGO 
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify legal risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with teams to develop compliant organizational policies.
  • Ability to conduct thorough due diligence for business transactions, identifying potential risks.
  • Experience preparing accurate compliance reports for regulatory authorities.
  • Skills in managing disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Experience providing legal compliance training to employees.
  • Strong organizational skills in maintaining legal documentation, with a focus on confidentiality and security.
