MHPSS Coordinator

Terre des hommes is looking for a proactive, energetic, and organised MHPSS Coordinator, to join its team in Kyiv, Ukraine (with the possibility of traveling between local offices), to support in the implementation of its projects. If you are looking for a meaningful job that will make a lasting impact on the lives of children, we want to meet you.

In Ukraine, Tdh has worked through partnerships since 2009 and legally established its offices in 2014. Since 2015, Tdh has been providing various services to children, youth and their families in the conflict affected area, with a strong focus on psychosocial support.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme development

  • Lead technical discussion relevant to MHPSS to show direction to the Tdh Ukraine delegation in accordance with the Tdh and global best practice;
  • Provide technical inputs to Tdh programme and project teams based on the Tdh holistic understanding of Mental health and psychosocial well-being, its MHPSS Operational Framework, Participative methodologies, as well as Psychosocial resilience Monitoring and Evaluation tools;
  • Ensure the compliance of the activities with the sector’s international and national quality standards relevant to MHPSS;
  • Contribute to the development of the country strategy relevant to MHPSS, including performing the required assessments in the country;
  • Work closely with the Senior Management Team to identify potential donors for projects development relevant to MHPSS and contribute to the development of proposals while reporting to the Programme Coordinator;

Coordination with stakeholders 

  • Coordinate with relevant departments of Tdh Ukraine delegation, particularly with Programme and MEAL team, Base Offices.
  • Ensure that all MHPSS interventions are designed in line with Tdh’s 2025-2028 strategy and Tdh holistic understanding of Mental health and psychosocial well-being by guiding and coordinating with relevant teams in the Tdh Ukraine delegation and its partners.
  • Participate in the National MHPSS Technical Working Group. Participate in Child Protection Area of Responsibility and GBV Cluster meetings as appropriate, share information and action plans with the Tdh Ukraine delegation Programme team from MHPSS perspectives.
  • Coordinate with the state administration working on MHPSS including the Ministry of Health, the National Coordination Center and other relevant state administrative bodies relevant to MHPSS. 
  • Support the establishment of strong linkages between MHPSS and child protection, ensuring the strengthening of child-centered socio-ecological model approach in child protection.
  • Ensure Tdh’s MHPSS interventions are informed by sector identified priorities and integrate key messages from all sectors into the Tdh’s holistic approach for mental health and psychosocial well-being.
  • Contribute to draft donor reporting on MHPSS interventions internally or at inter-agency level.
  • Work closely with other various development and humanitarian assistance partners to ensure better coordination relevant to MHPSS.
  • Support project design, development and implementation relevant to MHPSS through holistic, mental health and psychosocial support programmes for children, families and communities in line with identified priorities using Tdh standards methodologies and tools while reflecting the Ukrainian national programme relevant to the MHPSS.
  • Support the review of Tdh’s Psycho-social Support (PSS) intervention model, existing curricula, modules and tools to ensure their alignment with the global inter-agency and internal standards (IASC).
  • Support contextualizing and adapting both Tdh existing and new MHPSS resources into Ukraine contexts based on findings from community consultations including with children, adolescents and caregivers that are gender, age and disability sensitive. 
  • Support Tdh Project Managers and its Project team members in implementing activities to meet the project objectives relevant to MHPSS while providing technical and financial oversight on the project budgets relevant to MHPSS.
  • Identify and assess MHPSS capacity building needs within Tdh and its’ partners and support the institutional capacity development plan and its roll-out.
  • Assist providing training and capacity building to child protection staff and other stakeholders on Tdh recommended MHPSS methodologies including but not limited to psychological first aid (PFA), referral mechanisms and information-sharing protocols relevant to MHPSS and global guidelines relevant to MHPSS.
  • Implement work-plans for MHPSS curricula, modules and approaches including review and feedback workshops for new materials, testing and piloting new content/interventions, designing training modules and training implementers and their supervisors on MHPSS concepts, Tdh’s approach and the content itself.
  • Monitor the implementation of MHPSS interventions to ensure quality, effectiveness and relevance of interventions. Modify approaches and content on an on-going basis. 
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to MHPSS facilitators and their supervisors.

 Contents adaptation of MHPSS tools into Ukraine contexts

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • In coordination with the M&E department and in line with Tdh global guidance, adapt an MHPSS M&E framework for MHPSS interventions in Ukraine contexts, with a particular focus on both quantitative and qualitative indicators of psychosocial wellbeing. 
  • In coordination with M&E department ensure safe and confidential management of MHPSS information, including managing MHPSS resources as well as regular analysis of MHPSS trends and needs to inform programming.

YOUR PROFILE 

Education and Experience

  • Professional diploma or post-graduate university degree in medical science, Psychology, Psychiatry, Public Health or Global Mental Health or relevant field
  • At least 10 years of professional experience working in health sector including MHPSS, family medicine, child protection in emergencies and/or mental health and Psychosocial support in emergencies, including staff supervision
  • At least 2 years’ teaching and/or training experience at higher-educational institution in health or social sphere or other equivalent training institutions 
  • Knowledge of IASC guidelines and policies for MHPSS in emergencies, humanitarian principles including Sphere standards and CPMS MHPSS Standards (see: https://www.mhpssmsp.org/en)
  •  Experience in community consultations, child participation and monitoring and evaluating MHPSS interventions
