IT Infrastructure specialist

Bayer Ltd, a leading multinational company, is opening a  position of IT Infrastructure specialist. 

IT Infrastructure position is to design, implement, administer, and support the organization's IT infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operations that align with business objectives. This role is responsible for managing a diverse range of technologies, including computing, storage, networking, and cloud services, to create a robust infrastructure that supports the organization's needs.

Major tasks and responsibilities: 

Infrastructure Design and Implementation:

Design, implement, administer, and support various infrastructure technologies and solutions, including computing, storage, networking, and physical infrastructure.

Evaluate and integrate commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products and open-source solutions, as well as virtual and cloud computing options such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

Information Security Risk Management:

Identify information security risks associated with infrastructure solutions and services, and develop controls to mitigate identified threats.

Regularly assess security measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Standards Application and Guidance:

Apply a modern standards approach to infrastructure design and implementation, ensuring consistency and quality across all projects.

Provide guidance and support to team members and stakeholders in adhering to established standards and best practices.

Issue Ownership and Resolution:

Take ownership of issues until a new owner is assigned or the problem is fully mitigated or resolved.

Initiate and monitor actions to investigate patterns and trends related to recurring problems, contributing to long-term solutions.

Remedy Determination and Implementation:

Determine the appropriate remedy for identified issues and assist with its implementation, ensuring minimal disruption to services.

Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure effective execution of solutions.

Service Focus and Stakeholder Engagement:

Gather input from stakeholders to establish infrastructure solutions that align with and facilitate the achievement of business objectives.

Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders to ensure their needs are understood and addressed.

System Design and Complexity Management:

Design systems characterized by medium levels of risk, impact, and business or technical complexity, ensuring they meet organizational requirements.

Select appropriate design standards, methods, and tools, and ensure their effective application throughout the project lifecycle.

Design Review and Integration:

Review system designs created by others to ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and effective integration of multiple systems and technologies.

Provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement based on best practices.

Technical Concept Communication:

Develop a thorough understanding of the technical concepts relevant to infrastructure technologies and effectively communicate how these concepts apply to the wider IT landscape.

Create documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing among team members and stakeholders.

Key Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Network+, ITIL) are highly desirable 
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure design, implementation, and support
• Proven experience with cloud technologies and services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) as well as traditional on-premises infrastructure
• Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall configurations
• Proficiency in server administration (Windows, Linux) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)•
• Experience with storage solutions, backup/recovery processes, and disaster recovery planning
• Familiarity with information security principles and practices, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies
• Basic project management skills to assist in planning and executing infrastructure projects
