Head of investment analysis and control

The logistics group of companies, due to the expansion of activities is looking for a Head of investment analysis and control

Main objective:
analyze investments payback, recommend the projects with the highest return and control meeting project objectives to ensure maximum return on investments.

Key responsibilities:

1. Calculation and analysis of ROI for R&D pilot projects:

• Discuss proposed hypotheses with R&D, 
• Develop methods for ROI assessment
• Collect relevant data (tested for reliability)
• Analyze the data, calculate ROI, form conclusions 
• Identify and recommend projects with the highest return

2. Challenge payback calculation of proposed investments:

• Regularly collect and analyze actual data on performance of various investments (segment and equipment analysis)
• Bottleneck and constraint analysis;
• Compare payback calculation for proposed projects to the actual data (ensuring alternative solutions are considered);
• Provide feedback and recommendations to the Divisions and the CFO 

3. Effectiveness of utilization of investment assets:

• Regularly monitor utilization of fixed assets capacity
• Identify ineffective capacity utilization (by all available methods, including analysis and observation)
• Escalate any detected ineffectiveness to the Committee

4. Control achievement of promises made by project managers:

• consolidate promises made by project managers regarding payback and other effects of projects;
• regularly monitor achievement of payback objectives
• identify significant deviations which threaten payback 
   and report them to the CFO

5. ROI analysis on other expenditure:

• ROI assessment of marketing expenditure
• ROI assessment of IT development expenditure, etc.

Subordination:

This new position will be integrated within the Group’s CFO function at Company’s headquarters.   Reports to the Group CFO.

Potentially 1 direct subordinate. 
Over 40 entities, grouped into 5 Divisions
 

Requirements:

1. Working experience  as Head of investment analysis and control in private companies, Finance business partner (with experience of investment appraisal) or any other similar role which involved:
 - calculation of investment payback or return on investment 
 - challenging such calculations 
 - regular monitoring of achieving investment project goals 
 - calculation of Return on Investment for marketing or IT expenses.         

Prior international audit or consulting experience would be desired

2. Economic / finance education

3. Analytical skills:
 - analytical mindset;
 - business acumen;                                                                                                                    - trained ability to perform self-checks and critically assess the result of own work before submission.

 4. Interview and communication skills: Conducting interviews in polite and assertive manner, without aggression or tension but with high effectiveness of finding out the true version of events.

 5. Presentation skills:
 ability to present analysis in concise and visualized manner 

6. Languages: Fluent:  Ukrainian,   good command of English would be a plus

7. PC skills: Advanced user of MS Excel 
 (ability to quickly and accurately work with high volumes of data)
