About the job
The ICRC Health Unit is seeking a highly capable HealthCare in Detention Field Officer to join our team in Lviv. The HealthCare in Detention Field Officer plays a key role in supporting the implementation, operation, and monitoring of healthcare programs to improve detainees' access to medical services. S/he provides field assistance for the ICRC's health program for prisoners of war and security detainees, ensuring activities align with the ICRC strategy, objectives, and action plans. The HealthCare in Detention Field Officer also liaises with relevant authorities and partner organizations, including NGOs and international agencies.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the implementation of strategies, objectives, and action plans to improve healthcare services in detention facilities.
- Collaborate with the Detention Doctor to implement ICRC support for the prison health system, including improving premises, equipment, and staff capacity
- Contribute to the proper organization of training programs for prison health staff, the coordination with the Regional/oblast Prison Health Services and with medical universities. ensuring alignment with ICRC procedures and effective implementation
- Assist when required in updating, analyzing and reporting weekly and monthly health related data database with necessary health indicators in detention facilities
- Maintain regular communication with prison health authorities, national organizations, and international stakeholders to support the ICRC prison health project and advocate for reform
- Assist in ordering and delivering medical supplies needed for the project. This will involve close coordination with the ICRC logistics for the timely preparation of requisition orders as well as the preparation of donation certificates and filing
- Provide accurate interpretation and translation services between English, Ukrainian, and Russian for meetings, documents, and correspondences
- Assist with administrative tasks such as regular and ad hoc reporting and ensure proper filing of all internal and external documents and correspondence.

About you
To be successful as HealthCare in Detention Field Officer in the Health Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- Medical professional and university degree in medicine or nursing
- Qualifications in public health or health management are a strong asset
- At least 3 years of clinical work experience in a primary healthcare setting
- Training and experience in general clinical practice, programmatic management, and public health. Previous work with prison health services would be an asset
- Valid license to practice in Ukraine
- Sound knowledge in patients’ management
- Professional fluency (written and spoken) in English, Ukrainian and Russian
- Computer literate, including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational, supervisory, and analytical skills. Able to work methodologically and follow tight deadlines
- Able to work in an austere environment involving field trips
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
