Overview:

The Communications Manager will play a key role in the success of the MSEC reform project within the Rehab4U initiative, driving effective communication strategies and ensuring the project's goals are clearly and consistently communicated to stakeholders. Reporting to the project lead and working closely with the Communications Advisor, the Ministry of Health (MOH) communications team, MOH officials, and other stakeholders, the manager will oversee daily communication efforts through media, social platforms, events, and other channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an "internal journalist" to gather and own all project-related information for effective communication.
  • Translate expert insights into engaging formats suitable for various platforms.
  • Develop, manage, and execute a communications plan and content calendar based on the project's strategy.
  • Contribute to the development and updates of the project's communication strategy.
  • Monitor the information landscape, identify potential risks or opportunities, and respond proactively.
  • Create high-quality written content in various formats, including press releases, social media posts, articles, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Coordinate with designers and social media managers, ensuring timely delivery of tasks.
  • Organize events, interviews, video recordings, and related activities.
  • Build relationships with journalists and influencers, responding to media inquiries, pitching stories, and facilitating collaborations.
  • Prepare and manage interviews, including briefing speakers and journalists, organizing logistics, and following up.
  • Arrange project speaker participation in external events, including preparing speeches, presentations, and logistics.
  • Report on communication activities and outcomes based on agreed performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in communications, journalism, or related fields, with a preference for those with expertise in healthcare, government communications, or the nonprofit sector.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of strategic communication principles and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to create impactful content across various formats, from press releases to keynote speeches.
  • Deep knowledge of media operations and experience working with journalists and bloggers.
  • Expertise in leveraging social media for effective communication.
  • Experience collaborating with speakers and experts, extracting key insights, and preparing them for public appearances.
  • Ability to work with high-profile individuals, including senior officials, celebrities, and experts, and manage collaborative communication efforts.
  • Project and process management skills with the ability to lead and execute tasks independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to listen, persuade, and adapt approaches based on the situation.
  • Agility in responding to changes and managing crises or emerging challenges.
  • Creative problem-solving and idea generation aligned with project goals.
  • Proficiency in delegating tasks and monitoring their completion.
  • High levels of self-organization and personal efficiency.
