ESG manager

About the Role

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to drive transformative environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives? DVL is seeking a proactive and visionary ESG Manager to shape and drive our ESG strategy, ensuring alignment with international standards including the IFC Performance Standards (IFC PS), and EBRD Environmental and Social Performance Requirements (EBRD PR), and driving meaningful impact within the Company and the communities we serve.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the integration of ESG principles across all operations, manage risks, and foster stakeholder engagement to enhance DVL's reputation and performance in the telecom and IT sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. ESG Management System Development and Oversight:

• Develop and implement an Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) aligned with IFC PS/EBRD PR requirements and applicable regulations.
• Oversee policies and procedures covering sustainability, resource efficiency, biodiversity management, pollution prevention, GHG accounting, waste management, emergency response, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Establish clear, measurable climate goals (e.g., reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, net-zero targets, energy efficiency metrics), and ensure they are aligned with the Company’s long-term strategy.

2. Governance and Compliance:

• Establish governance frameworks for ESG initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental, social, and safety standards.
• Conduct gap analyses of existing ESG practices and implement action plans to address identified gaps.
• Compare the Company’s climate governance practices against industry leaders and adopt best practices. Regularly review and update corporate climate governance models.
• Stay updated on emerging climate- and sustainability-related regulations and ensure continuous compliance.

3. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

• Develop and implement a Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), including a Community Grievance Mechanism, and conduct reviews on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment on ESG priorities. Ensure cross-departmental collaboration to address climate governance comprehensively.
• Provide transparent and engaging reporting on ESG risks, initiatives, and achievements, including communications with Board members and investors.

4. Risk Management and Program Delivery:

• Incorporate climate-related risks and opportunities into enterprise risk management frameworks.
• Conduct environmental and social risk assessments for new projects and existing operations.
• Oversee initiatives addressing occupational health and safety, labor rights, and gender-based violence and harassment.
• Monitor and report on progress toward achieving ESG targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Lead initiatives to embed ESG considerations into supply chain management and procurement processes.

5. Training and Advocacy:

• Organize and deliver training programs on ESG topics, including compliance with regulatory and international frameworks requirements, human rights, safety, and sustainability best practices.
• Foster an organizational culture of accountability and innovation around ESG principles.
• Advocate for DVL's ESG initiatives through internal and external communication campaigns, enhancing the Company's reputation and influence in the industry. 

6. Innovation and Future-Focused Initiatives

• Identify and implement innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance ESG performance.
• Benchmark DVL's ESG initiatives against industry leaders to ensure competitiveness and drive continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on global ESG trends and emerging issues to proactively shape DVL’s strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

What you’ll bring to the table:

Essential

• A degree in environmental science, sustainability, economics, law, engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in ESG management, sustainability, or related roles, preferably in telecom, IT, or other regulated industries.
• Understanding of sustainable development agenda, general trends in policies and actions being taken at global, national, sectoral and corporate levels
• Deep knowledge of international ESG frameworks (incl., IFC PS, EBRD PR) and environmental management systems.
• Expertise in developing and implementing policies on biodiversity, pollution control, GHG reduction, and waste management.
• Advances analytical and reporting skills.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of presenting to executives and external stakeholders.
• Analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex ESG goals into actionable programs.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in overseeing ESG-related initiatives across complex, cross-functional teams.
• Experience in managing external assurance processes and/or third-party certifications.
• Upper-Intermediate/Advanced English (Oral and Writing).
• Advanced MS office skills.

Desired (will be an advantage)

• Proficiency in sustainability reporting standards such as GRI, Global Compact, SASB, CDP, TCFD, IFRS S1 and S2, CSRD, CSDDD, EcoVadis, Sustainalytics etc.
• Additional credentials, training, or demonstrated knowledge in the principles or implementation of frameworks and certifications such as LEED, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22001, ISO 26001, ISO 50001 etc. or a related qualification.
• Knowledge of international methodologies in relation to stakeholders’ engagement (AccountAbility's AA1000 Series).
• Familiarity with ESG-related software and tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
