The «Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland (ASB)»is a non-governmental and non-religious German aid and welfare organization working in areas such as rescue services, civil protection and social services. Since its foundation in 1888, the ASB has acted as a politically and denominationally independent association ensuring a high level of continuity and reliability.

ASB provides a people-centered humanitarian response to alleviate human suffering, contributes to building the resilience of systems, communities, and societies, and applies integrated approaches to welfare and social and socio-economic development. ASB currently has a portfolio of more than 100 projects in countries such as Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Kosovo, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Philippines, Serbia and Ukraine.

ASB has been implementing humanitarian interventions in Ukrainesince the beginning of the conflict in 2014. Following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022, ASB has increased its humanitarian operations to respond to multiple needs of the war-affected population of Ukraine. Our team is committed to provide multi-sectoral humanitarian aid in the areas of basic needs, food security, hygiene, winterization, health and psychosocial support. This includes in-kind assistance as well as cash components and social services provided in cooperation with local partners.

ASB in Ukraine is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the following position:

ASB Driver

Duration: 12 months (possibility of extension)

Start: As soon as possible

Duty station: Kyiv

Vacancy: National position

Salary: ASB offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience

Duties, objectives, and competencies:

• Safely and responsibly performing all official travel using official vehicles
• Regularly servicing and looking after official vehicles
• Taking account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations

The driver performs the following tasks:

• Provides passenger transport in an official car for office, project or program staff, official visitors, and guests
• Helps with transporting goods
• Completes the vehicle log correctly and conscientiously in accordance with standards
• Cleans the interior and exterior of the vehicle (s) regularly
• Checks oil, water, brakes, and brake liquid, tire pressure, battery levels, and the entire vehicle, monthly or every 5,000 km (whichever is first), headlights, brakes, bodywork for dents, etc.
• Is responsible for the project vehicle documents and their good condition, keeping a vehicle log, and recording monthly maintenance
• Calculates monthly petrol, oil, and lubricant consumption for the daily cash fund and for forwarding monthly vouchers to cost accounting
• Reports need for service and carry out minor repairs
• Immediately reports all involvement of the project or office vehicle in accidents, including minor accidents, damage, loss or theft of vehicle fittings
• Ensure transportation of ASB personnel in accordance with ASB policies and procedures
• Provide logistical support as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Key requirements:

• Long-term driving experience (at least 10 years)
• Previous work experience in a similar position, preferably in an international humanitarian NGO, will be an advantage

Professional skills and knowledge:

• Valid driver’s license (category «B») and willingness to drive an ASB vehicle

understanding and compliance with humanitarian standards
