Accountant / Project Administrator
Medici per i Diritti Umani - MEDU (Doctors for Human Rights - Italy) is a democratic, non-profit organization that operates independently of political, trade union, religious, and ethnic affiliations.
Founded in Rome in 2004 by a group of doctors, midwives, and other volunteers, MEDU is dedicated to providing healthcare to vulnerable populations and exposing human rights violations, particularly those concerning the denial of the right to health.
Role: Accountant / Project Administrator
Duty station: Poltava, Ukraine
Conditions: 3-month continuous and coordinated collaboration agreement Full-time or part-time
Salary: The salary will be defined on the basis of the candidate's experience.
Starting date: 1st February January
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
In collaboration with and under the supervision of the MEDU Project Coordinator, the Accountant will:
- Ensure the accountable and transparent administrative management of activities within the entire project;
- Manage the accounts of MEDU Poltava dedicated to the project funded by AICS: entry of purchase invoices in the accounts, first notes, cash and bank movements, salaries, management of expenses, reimbursements;
- Manage the general accountability of MEDU Poltava within the project: Management and reporting of the invoices, Bank and cash flows management, payroll management, petty cash book management, expense reimbursement management, reconciliation of bank and cash statements, verification and accounting of monthly expenses of local staff, preparation of documentation for purchases, filing of accounting and tax documentation, in accordance with the donor's procedures; management of accounting books; administrative management of personnel with the support of the labor consultant (contracts, insurance, payslips, time sheet and payments, etc.)
- Manage relations with the bank and with the competent tax agencies
- Assist MEDU Project Coordinator in preparing the monthly reports to be sent to headquarters, interim and final statements to be sent to the lender and all the documentation required by the administrative procedures in place;
- Manage the finance available to the project team in Poltava;
- Defines and activates internal procedures aimed at developing and rationalizing administrative services, management control, financial monitoring, in accordance with the tax system in force in Ukraine.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics of Public Administration, Social Sciences or International cooperation and development
- Foreign languages: Good knowledge of English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Adherence to humanitarian action principles of humanity, impartiality, independence, and neutrality
- Demonstrates a sense of initiative and flexibility
- Driving license type B
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Capacity to prioritize, adapt and thrive in stressful conditions
- Proficient in coordinating and organizing his own work-flow
- Possesses strong planning and contextual analysis skills
- Ability to thrive in a multicultural context
OTHER DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
- Previous work experience in war and emergency contexts
- Previous work experience as an Accountant
- Previous work experience with non-profit organizations in the social health or mental health field
