IREX administers media and information literacy (MIL) programs in Ukraine, which strengthen Ukrainian teachers’ and students’ resilience to manipulative information by enhancing critical information engagement skills in the Ukrainian secondary education system at large. Learn to Discern in Education and a new program IREX will launch in September require the services of a consultant.
We are looking for a Consultant for Assessment and Creation of Media Literacy and Generative Artificial Intelligence-Related Campaign and Curricula in Ukraine (hereinafter “Consultant”), who will contribute to a needs assessment, use data and research to recommend materials for training teachers, design campaigns, and propose appropriate monitoring and evaluation questions.
Your Tasks
Analyze data from surveys and other research and evaluation efforts related to campaign and assessment
Conduct desk research on use of generative AI as part of malign actors’ information tactics
Conduct desk research on use of generative AI as a tool to combat mis/disinformation
Design questions and aims of generative AI media landscape assessment
Identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in generative AI used for manipulative information.
Develop campaign objectives on healthy media consumption
Contribute to campaign design, including storyboarding recommendations
Communicate with vendor and program team on campaign development
Contribute to outreach and advertising of educational materials and campaigns
Recommend resources and lesson objectives for teaching generative AI-related media literacy competencies to teachers, students, and parents
Recommend ways of measuring success, including monitoring and evaluation indicators and tools, of campaign and curricula.
Assist program staff in preparing final analysis reports, summaries, and visualizations for project stakeholders to explain research results and suggest recommendations.
Support program staff and other duties as needed.
Your Background & Skills
Bachelor’s degree.
The consultant will have a strong understanding of media literacy, generative AI, countering disinformation, training programs, and/or public awareness campaign development.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in a combination of one or more of the above areas is required.
Professional or academic experience to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in various field studies is desired.
Professional experience working for international development programs is strongly desired.
Knowledge of research methodologies (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, mixed method) and data collection and analysis methodologies desired.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
Very strong communication and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated high attention to detail.
Ability to work independently.
Strong written and spoken command of Ukrainian language is required.
Ability to read and comprehend written English.
Must be legally able to perform consulting duties and be compensated from either the IREX DC or IREX Ukraine office.
