About the job
The ICRC Armed Forces & Security (FAS) Unit seeks a competent Assistant to join our team in Kyiv. In close cooperation with team members and line managers, the FAS Assistant will be responsible for implementing the FAS program and all the activities related to the “military and security forces” (MAG/PGE) department.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a dynamic contacts database, including armed and security forces personnel, military or police attaches, NGOs, UN representatives, and other key stakeholders
- Plan and execute training sessions, seminars, roundtables, and conferences on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL), fostering dialogue and understanding among military and law enforcement communities
- Support budget monitoring and expenditure tracking, collaborating closely with the FAS Coordinator to ensure activities align with financial goals
- Liaise with the Logistics Unit to manage material and equipment requests, ensuring seamless support for FAS Work Unit initiatives
- Take detailed notes during meetings and conferences to capture critical discussions and prepare concise reports to inform decision-making
- Contribute to high-quality reports, translations, and interpretations as needed, enhancing the clarity and accessibility of key messages

About you
To be successful as Armed Forces & Security Assistant in the FAS Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- High-school degree (if military/police background) or University degree (if no police/military background)
- Background in legal and security is an asset
- Typically, 3 years of relevant professional experience (military, police, legal, or security or any other relevant experience)
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Ukrainian
- Computer proficiency
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Confidence in managing projects and staff
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
