Head of Credit Department
We are seeking a dynamic leader with extensive experience in the credit or financial services sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business strategy development and a deep understanding of digital solutions. This role involves working with micro and small businesses, driving growth and creating opportunities for income generation and job creation, ultimately contributing to the development and support of local communities.
Main Responsibilities:
Leading the Credit Business:
- Responsible for implementation of the approved Business Plan ensuring all departments and branch offices are aware of targets and achieving targets;
- Sets targets for field visits, client visits, and meetings with personnel and clients;
- Evaluates the credit operations department’s performance, identifies problems or issues, and recommends corrective measures when necessary;
- Responsible for implementation of Credit Manual, all necessary documents and procedures in line with Ukrainian Law, including preserving client rights, transparency and data protection;
- Follows up with the relevant staff in the Credit Department to ensure any actions related to audit findings are implemented;
- Shares information and communicates openly with senior managers; facilitates good flow of information between departments and around the operational network;
- Ensures that policies and procedures are applied consistently and uniformly across the operational network.
Staffing, Performance Management and Capacity Building in Credit Department:
- Makes decisions in the selection and hiring of new Credit staff;
- Recommends promotion, suspension, dismissal, and/or transfer of staff within the Credit Business;
- Ensures the annual Performance Management cycle is implemented and evaluates job performance of the credit department;
- Recommends merit increases; leads the design and implementation of other incentives for the Credit department; in collaboration with P&C department;
- Regularly conducts a skills analysis for Credit Staff, analyzing gaps and ensuring the department members’ skills are developed (including by directly training and coaching them, as necessary);
- Develops succession plans in collaboration with P&C department.
Development of Products and Services:
- Proactively informs the CEO about potential opportunities for business improvement in line with market trends;
- Continuously monitors the external environment, performs necessary analysis and proactively makes proposals for improving the Company’s strategic position;
- Collaborates with Business Development in market research to determine new locations, target clients, products and services;
- Reviews internal and external markets on new methodologies/approaches to improve field operations and social performance.
Senior leadership:
Participate in the client complaint committee, as member. Follow up on client complaints as per local requirements.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Accounting, Banking, Business Administration;
- Work experience of at least 8 years, of which at least 3 years in microfinance or retail banking;
- Knowledge of Ukrainian legislation on lending;
- Highly proficient user of MS office software (ideally with experience of financial systems);
- Advanced level of communication, sales and customer service skills;
- Demonstrated skills in training, mentoring and coaching;
- People oriented and results focused with a commitment to social impact;
- Fluency in both Ukrainian and English.
