About the job  

The ICRC Health Unit is seeking a highly capable Health Field Officer for Medical Supplies to join our team in Kyiv. The successful candidate will ensure that patients treated in ICRC-supported health facilities receive quality care in well-equipped and well-maintained settings. The Health Field Officer for Medical Supplies will ensure that medical supplies in these facilities align with ICRC agreements and standards and that all equipment functions correctly to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the ICRC health team to identify and address the medical supply and equipment needs of supported health facilities, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality care
• Actively participate in the procurement process, evaluating offers for medical supplies to secure the best combination of quality, pricing, delivery times, and service for locally sourced items
• Anticipate and estimate medical supply requirements based on program demands, guaranteeing seamless support for all health initiatives
• Build and maintain strong communication channels with supply counterparts and other humanitarian organizations to foster collaboration and operational efficiency
• Create clear and detailed technical specifications for locally procured medical devices, aligning them with ICRC’s standards and best practices
• Supervise the receipt of medical supplies in the warehouse, meticulously verifying that quantities and quality meet expectations and match orders
• Oversee medical equipment purchase and donation processes, ensuring their proper installation in health facilities and compliance with warranty terms and donation agreements

About you

To be successful as Health Field Officer for Medical Supplies in the Health Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:   

• Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine 
• University degree in nursing or any medical field with surgical experience, preferably OT (occupational therapist) nurse
• Biomedical knowledge, medical logistics, or related field (Master Science, Engineering, Medical Supply Chain) are a strong asset
• Qualifications in public health or health management are a strong asset
• At least 5 years of total work experience in managing medical supplies and equipment in a hospital setting, with some degree of understanding of medical devices and maintenance program
• Experience in the humanitarian sector
• Experience in health technologies used in Hospitals and other health facilities.
• Experience with medical suppliers in the Ukrainian context 
• Professional fluency (written and spoken) in English and Ukrainian
• Computer literate with proven digital skills, including the capacity to use the internet confidently on a mobile phone, tablet, laptop or PC, and confidence to use systems at work such as Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
• Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
• Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
• Confidence in managing projects and staff
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
